This is one of the most sought after plants and it is not difficult to see why, it is an absolute beauty. The normal non-variegated monkey mask monstera is a really pretty plant, but the variegated one is just amazing. Monstera Adansonii Variegata Price
While this is much loved it is also very, very rare, and so it is unbelievably expensive. At the time of writing this plant is in the thousands of euros/dollars. And depending on size they can be mega-mega money! Small 2-leaf baby plants go for 1000-3000 US Dollars on Etsy and Ebay. Bigger ones cost even more! This is a really expensive plant. However monsteras can be relatively easily propagated, so these could be a great investment.
I personally could not bring myself to hand over that cash though, in case it dies in the post!

Monstera Adansonii Variegated Care
This plant needs similar care to the non-variegated Monstera Adansonii, it will thrive in bright but indirect sunlight. The Variegated Adansonii will need a little more light in general due to fact it is variegated so it should be in a bright location, but not in direct sunlight as this can cause the leaves to burn. They like a peaty but well draining environment.
Be careful not to overwater these as root rot can be a common issue – let the top of the soil totally dry out between watering. Which means watering it about once a week in hotter months and about every two weeks in the colder months, but always check the soil is dry first.
Spraying and cleaning the leaves is a good idea too so they don’t get dusty. Apart from making it look good it reduces the chances of it it getting overtaken by pests.
It is a great household plant that likes household temperatures and household humidity levels.
The variegated monstera adansonii needs a good amount of indirect sunlight, a little bit more than it’s non variegated version due to the fat it cannot process the light as well. However at the same time it is also more prone to burning due to the variegated parts being sensitive, so you can have to be careful to give it plenty of sunlight but not let it get burned by too harsh direct sun. You can also use a grow light to supplement the light if needed.
How Often to Water
The monstera adansonii variegata likes to be kept wet, but you need to be careful of root rot. The best thing to do is to stick your finger in the soil once a week and if it is half or more dry then water your plant.
In the growing season (the hotter spring and summer months) you can feed the plant every 2 or 3 weeks with a balanced plant feed. Make sure it is well diluted, you do not want to burn those leaves.

You can propagate Monstera Adansonii Variegata in sphagnum moss by taking a cutting with a node and a brand or two, then putting the cutting in a cup of moist sphagnum moss. Keep it moist and in a bright window that gets plenty of indirect sunlight and the roots should grow quickly. If you use a see-though cut you can see the root growth.
You can propagate a Monstera Adansonii Variegata by water propagation – take a cutting that includes a node and put it in a jar of tap water. Then wait a month of so until it roots grow well, and pot it up in a good well draining potting compost.

You cannot directly make a variegated plant variegated, but you can help it to keep it’s variegation by giving it plenty of indirect sunlight.
