How To Fix A Reverted Philodendron Paraiso Verde

Time needed: 30 minutes

A step by step guide to fixing a reverted philodendron paraiso verde that has lost its variegation.

  1. Cut the leaves back

Cut the leaves off and the node they were growing from you want to get rid of the non-variegated growth points. The idea is that the next growth from the variegated part of the plant will hopefully be variegated again.Philodendron Paraiso Verde Reverted

  2. Give it more indirect light

Move the plant somewhere it does not get direct sun but gets as much indirect light as you can can, like next to the brightest window in your house, but off to the side just slightly so it does not get direct sun.

  3. Wait a few weeks

If the first leaf or two is reverted don’t worry, but if after 3 leaves it is still putting out all green leaves you want to cut the plant back even further, a node or two more than you did before and repeat the process.

Here’s a couple of pictures of my plant that reverted due to low light.

They are not super stable, some of mine have lost their variegation a few times. The good news it is fairly ready to fix by giving the plant more or less light.

Why Is My Paraiso Verde Turning Green?

Direct sunlight or too much low light can cause the plant to revert, keep it in bright indirect sunlight but no direct.

Can Reverted Variegation Come Back?

Philodendron paraiso verdes can recover their variegation fairly easily – cut the reverted leaves back to the node and move it to bright but indirect sunlight.
