Medium indirect sunlight is ideal up to brighter but indirect sun. No direct sunlight for this plant though, it will most likely burn.

How Often to Water

The plant does not want to sit in wet soil, so check it once a week and only water it if the top 50% of soil is already dry.

Tip: underwater this plant rather than overwater it, they must not sit in soggy soil as they get root rot easily. Check the soil and only water if mostly dry, and make sure you don’t leave the pot sat in any excess water.

Fertilizer

Feed a balanced feed each month in the spring and summer months. In the hottest months you can up this to once every 2 weeks.

Soil

When To Repot

Take the plant out of its pot in Spring and see if the roots have enough room to grow in the forthcoming warmer growing months.

Tip: Give them to a moss pole to climb up. You can tie it to it encourage upward growth, tidy the aerial roots and encourage larger leaf growth.

Humidity

60% or above is ideal, they will flourish if given the right humidity, but the leaves can dry and crisp up if not given enough. You can get a humidity meter fairly cheaply these days, and they are really handy in the drier parts of the year.

Temperature

20-30°C (68-86°F) is best for this plant. They’ll be ok if they get colder at night, but try not to let them get down below 10°C.

Philodendron Oxapapense Propagation

To propagate a philodendron oxapapense take cuttings (with at least one node and one leaf) and root them in sphagnum moss over a month or two. Then pot up into soil when the roots have grown well.
