Alocasia Chantrieri Light Needs

Medium to bright indirect sunlight is ideal, but no direct sun as it can burn. They do well under a grow light.

How Often To Water

Check the plant weekly and water it when the top 40% of soil is dry. Tip out excess water afterwards to void waterlogging and root rot.

Tip: keep them moist but not soaking wet. So check them weekly and water if the top half of the soil is dry. Tip out any excess water afterwards to avoid water logging so you keep them moist without drenching.

Fertilizer

Use a well diluted balanced feed every 3 or 4 weeks in spring and summer.

Alocasia Chantrieri Soil

When to Repot

Check the plant yearly and move it up a size if the roots are getting crowded. You can change the soil too, even if keeping it in the same pot.

Humidity

60% and over is ideal. These plant love humidity. They are one to put by the humidifier.

Tip: humidity should be about 60% or more in the day and they’ll be ok with a bit less at night. You can buy a humidity meter (affiliate link) to keep an eye on maximum and minimum levels.

Temperature

18-25ºC (64-77ºF) is the ideal range . Don’t let it get too cold at night, 10ºC (50ºF) as a minimum.

How to Propagate Alocasia Chantrieri

Propagate your Alocasia Chantrieri by separation at the base when the plant is big enough to split or has smaller baby plants around the base. Take it out of it’s pot, and gently separate the plants, being careful of the roots, then pot the plants up separately.

Is Alocasia Chantrieri Toxic To Cats?

It is toxic to cats and dogs if ingested, so seek vets advice if eaten.

Alocasia Chantrieri Size

They can get to about a meter(3 feet) tall at maturity in some cases but most will reach about half that height.

Over and underwatering, and lack of humidity as big issues which will show on the leaves. Keep it humid and have a regular watering schedule but leave the plant if the soil is too wet.
