How Often to Water

Water the parlor palm as soon as it has dried out, you can test it with your finger to see if it is dry all the way down.

Feed occasionally in warmer months (once a month will do). You can use a high nitrogen content feed.

Use a well draining peat based (or similar) potting compost.

When To Repot

These parlor palms grow relatively slowly but when they become root bound, you can pot them up to a container a size bigger. They best time to do this is in spring.

Chamaedorea Elegans like the mid-to-high end of household humidity, 50-60%. If you have a drier environment, then it’s a good idea to mist the plant when watering.

Parlor palms should not be exposed to freezing temperatures. Ideally they should be in temperatures of 18°C-26°C (65-80°F).

How To Propagate Chamaedorea Elegans

Propagate your parlor palm by division – separate out the smaller plants that grow around the base of the plant and pot them up separately. Make sure you take care to cause as little damage as possible to the plant and roots.
