Calatheas like indirect sunlight, the lancifolia will burn if given direct sunlight. Give them plenty of indrect sunlight to encourage the bright colouring in their striking foliage.
How Often to Water
Calatheas do not like to dry out, so check on them once or twice a week and water them if the top layer of soil is dry. However they do not like to sit in water as this can lead to root rot.
You don’t need to feed your calathea lancifolia but if you do they will grow quicker. You can feed them once a month in the summer months with a balanced fertilizer but dilute it down by twice as much as normal as calatheas can be sensitive. You should not feed the mat all in the winter months where the plant does much less growing.
Your lancifolia will do well in a well-draining peat based compost with some added perlite for good drainage.
When To Repot
Repot you calathea lancifolia yearly in spring to keep the soil fresh and encourage growth in the warmer summer months.
Calatheas like humidity at 50%-55%, they are tropical houseplants, you can mist them daily if they are in a dry atmosphere.
Calathea lancifolias like an ideal temperature range of 18-27°C (65-80°F). But don’t let them get down to below 15°C (59°F) too often as the cold will damage the plants.
