5 Flowering Succulents

Welcome to our run down of our five favorite flowering succulents to brighten your home. They are different from normal flowering plants in that the flowers are not the main focus of the plants, normally the leaves and steams are, however some succulents flower spectacularly, and at different times throughout the year, bringing color into your home.

Crassula Falcata

The crassula falcata, also knows as the propeller plant is a really nice crassula with a distinctive propeller-like rosette of leaves. They are relatively easy to care for an should flower bright red over the summer months if given plenty of bright indirect sunlight. The red blooms are a really stand out color.

Christmas Cactus

The Christmas cactus is really common, and it provides color as it flowers over winter, normally the two months before or after Christmas, and they are so easy to grow and propagate. They will add a red-pink color to your home in the middle of winter. For more on propagating succulents, see our article Propagating Succulents In Water.

Sedum Album

Sedums are one of my favorite succulents in general, but the flowers on the sedum album take the biscuit! They are unreal in their white ball-like circular blooms. They flower over mid-summer if given the right light conditions. The circular shaped white flower are something to behold.

Echeveria grow in beautiful rosettes that look like flowers, but when their actually flowers grow from tall stalks that the plants put out in the summer months, to produce arches of pink flowers hanging over the rosettes below. See our guide to the Echeveria Succulent for more on these impressive succulents.

Jade Plant

The classic jade plant produces really small white flowers in spring, but it can produce many of them, covering the plant in small white pretty blooms.
